Mr. Yong-Kwang Lee is renowned for successfully extracting the world’s first Solubilized Sturgeon Oil. Driven by the founding philosophy of benefiting humanity widely, he has dedicated himself to the cultivation, research and development, production, distribution, sales, and export of sturgeon products.

In 1997, during a workshop in Germany, Mr. Lee was inspired by the experience of healing burns without scarring using a sturgeon ointment, a traditional remedy. This pivotal moment ignited his passion for sturgeon research. The sturgeon, a species classified as endangered, became the focus of his work, especially after international trade restrictions on processed sturgeon products were lifted in 2013. This event marked the beginning of his full-scale venture into the sturgeon business.

In 2018, Mr. Lee developed a technology to extract Solubilized Sturgeon Oil (SSO), receiving significant attention both domestically and internationally. Since 2021, SSO has shown promising results in various research studies, including the suppression and treatment of atopic dermatitis, regulation of gut microbiota, hair growth efficacy, and inhibition of coronaviruses and influenza viruses. In 2024, he participated in a research titled “The Mechanism of Therapeutic Efficacy of Solubilized Sturgeon Oil in a Mouse Model of House Dust Mite-Induced Atopic Dermatitis” in the JFF journal.

Mr. Lee holds degrees in animal nutrition and a Marketing MBA. He states, “We aim to contribute to health for humanity with products developed from the exceptional properties of sturgeon. We will continue to strive for excellence and trustworthiness to become a dynamic company.”

Dr. Chong-Kil Lee’s career is a remarkable tale of academic and research excellence.

Dr. Lee completed his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at Chungbuk National University from 1977 to 1981. He then pursued a master’s degree in Microbiology at Seoul National University’s Graduate School of Pharmacy from 1981 to 1983. This was just the beginning of his academic journey, as he went on to earn a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Chicago Medical School in the United States from 1986 to 1990.

His professional career began at Chungbuk National University College of Pharmacy, where he served as an assistant professor, associate professor, and professor from 1990 to 2024. During this time, he also worked as an exchange scientist at the National Cancer Institute in the United States from 1995 to 1997.

From 2009 to 2010, he served as the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Chungbuk National University. In 2024, Dr. Lee embraced a new challenge as the Research Director at Sturgeon Bio, continuing to contribute his knowledge and experience to the field of biomedicine.

Dr. Lee’s primary research areas focus on regulating antigen-presenting cell functions and controlling T-cell responses. Additionally, he is dedicated to using biodegradable nanoparticles of tumor-specific antigens for cancer immunotherapy. His extensive research in these fields has resulted in over 220 publications in international SCIE-indexed journals and more than 80 publications in Korean domestic journals. He also holds over 20 registered patents.

Dr. Lee’s story is not just a journey of academic and research achievements but also a tale of relentless pursuit of excellence.
