
Dr. Chong-Kil Lee’s career is a remarkable tale of academic and research excellence.
Dr. Lee completed his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at Chungbuk National University from 1977 to 1981. He then pursued a master’s degree in Microbiology at Seoul National University’s Graduate School of Pharmacy from 1981 to 1983. This was just the beginning of his academic journey, as he went on to earn a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Chicago Medical School in the United States from 1986 to 1990.
His professional career began at Chungbuk National University College of Pharmacy, where he served as an assistant professor, associate professor, and professor from 1990 to 2024. During this time, he also worked as an exchange scientist at the National Cancer Institute in the United States from 1995 to 1997.
From 2009 to 2010, he served as the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Chungbuk National University. His leadership skills were recognized not only in academic institutions but also in professional associations. He served as the Vice President and then President of the Korean Association of Immunologists from 2010 to 2011. Since 2013, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal “Immune Network.“
In 2024, Dr. Lee embraced a new challenge as the Research Director at Sturgeon Bio, continuing to contribute his knowledge and experience to the field of biomedicine.
Dr. Lee’s primary research areas focus on regulating antigen-presenting cell functions and controlling T-cell responses. Additionally, he is dedicated to using biodegradable nanoparticles of tumor-specific antigens for cancer immunotherapy. His extensive research in these fields has resulted in over 220 publications in international SCIE-indexed journals and more than 80 publications in Korean domestic journals. He also holds over 20 registered patents.

Through his unwavering efforts, he has made significant contributions to both academia and the field of biomedicine.
